Members of the Union of International Federations of Sports Integrated into the program of Olympic Games offered a great recognition to Andrea’s work and abilities Zagli.
The FIBA Secretary General will participate in the Council of the Union of International Summer Olympic Sports Federations (ASOIF), as he was successfully elected as a member for the next four years.
The ASOIF General Assembly, which consists of 30 international federations as regular members and five as cooperating members, voted for the election of new council members during its annual meeting.
Andreas Zaglis garnered 24 votes among the 30 federations for his election as a member of the Union.
For the 2025-2029 term, Nenad Lalovic, president of the United World Wrestling, were also elected, and Jean-Casto Rolan, president of the World Rowing Federation, while World Athletics Vice President Himna Restrepo was elected for the period 2025-2027.
Following the increase in teams in the 3 × 3 Basketball at the Olympics, which FIBA has managed, the election of the man Zaglis in the ASOIF chair is coming to boost his basketball position in the Olympic movement.
ASOIF’s mission is to unite, promote and support the international federations of the summer Olympics. It also defends the common interests and goals of its members and represents them in matters of collective interest in the summer Olympics, the summer youth Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement.
