The technology of the coming years is demonstrated these days at the Shanghai exhibition by Citroen with the prototype Wild Rubis. The mid-size SUV of the luxury DS range is equipped with a hybrid system, capable of giving it emissions of just 43 g/km. The production version of the Wild Rubis will be based on the DS5, will go on sale in China in 2014 and will most likely be called the DS X7.
The lithium-ion batteries of the DS Wild Rubis are charged via a household power supply and provide the SUV with a range of 50 km, using only electricity. The 1.6 THP turbo petrol engine produces 225 PS and works with a 70 PS electric motor, mounted on the rear axle. The combined power of the system amounts to 295 PS.
