In this area, to the south of the Acropolis, during the imperial times (1st-5th century AD) some of the most splendid urban mansions of Athens were built.
These edifices, evidence of a city that was an object of admiration and attraction for well-to-do cultured citizens, were richly decorated with mosaic floors and sculptures, the work of the famous Neo-Attic workshops.
The staff of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the City of Athens, after completing the documentation of the find, ensures its safe transport to the conservation laboratories, in order for the project to receive the necessary care.
