THE Alperen Shengun came against the Giannis Antetokounbos, Both racing and with statements made after Greece – Turkey at Eurobasket. But now he wanted to apologize publicly for the post he had made after his team’s qualification on the blue -white in the semifinals of the competition.
It is recalled that Yiannis Antetokounbos and Alperien Sengun exchanged some not -so -flattering words after the semifinals of Greece – Turkey. The Turkish tall described him as “not so good passer”, with the Bucks star commenting: “I am a man who does not like to speak a lot, I let my game speak. Always inside me.
At the same time, Shengun posted an AI photo showing Kemal in a chair and behind him all the players of the Turkish national basketball team.
He then uploaded a series of photos from the race with Greece and wrote: “Did the sea air tease you?” Something that many interpreted as a reference to the Asia Minor disaster (the post was amended after the noise caused).
This volume “touched” even the wife of Yiannis Antetokounbos, Maria, who received threatening messages through social media.
In a post made on Tuesday night (16.09.2025) Giannis Antetokounbos tried to throw tonesposting a photo of him, hugging Singun and commenting: “We play because we love our countries. We play because we love the game. We play with respect. We always remember that sport is made to unite us not to separate us.”
In fact, he made a clarification on an attack he said on Insta-story (ed. “Take the Turkish flags from here”) to a Turkish friend, stressing that he responded to a specific person who made disrespectful comments and that he had a profound respect for his neighbors.
Almost simultaneously, the reaction of Alperien Sangun came. The Turkish Nbaer uploaded a story to social media in which he said that the post he had made after the Greece – Turkey was a communicative mistake and that he was respectful of the Greek people.
“My post after the fight with Greece was a communicative mistake. I have a lot of respect for the Greek people. It was never in my intentions to offend.”
