Alexis Tsipras’ constructive trip to the US: Speeches, meetings and “silent discussion” about his political future

With a program full of meaningful meetings, lectures and live dialogue with the United States academic and political elite, Alexis Tsipras He completed one of the most constructive trips of his political journey.

Invited by Harvard University and Center for European Studies (CES)participating in lectures, discussions and seminars, he participated in lectures and seminars, where he presented suggestions for a strategically autonomous and socially just Europe:

  • Federal Ministry of Finance in the EU

  • Issuing a common debt to support European public goods

  • New approach to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, with a focus on European perspective

  • Systematic treatment of far -right and defense of rule of law

A bridge of knowledge and progressive thinking

The former prime minister talked to leading academics and politicians:

  • With philosopher Michael Sandel for the dilemmas of equality and excellence

  • With the theoretical of mild power, Joseph Nai, for the future of diplomacy

  • With the inventor of the world tissue, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, to protect open digital rights

  • With top economist Richard Parker for the new challenges of the world economy

  • With Bernie Sanders, Chris Van Hollen and End Marci for democracy, justice and climate crisis

In his contacts with young children and students, Alexis Tsipras renewed his faith in the younger generation: in a generation of knowledge, sensitivity and progressive dynamics, in East and West, while giving “present” to think tanks such as Center for American Progress, Brookings Institute Peace.

Greece at the center

In all his interventions, Tsipras consistently promoted Greece’s strategic importance in the Eastern Mediterranean, the need to respect international law and the claim of a fair role for Europe in the new world.

Not even the most personal moments were missing. His talks with young students from all over the world, but also with Harvard Greeks, highlighted his faith in the younger generation, science and cooperation.

The ‘silent’ return to the foreground

Although he and his environment do not speak of returning to active political action, the climate around his visit leaves no room for doubt: the scenarios for Alexis Tsipras’ next day began to swell again.
Political friends and opponents, analysts and the media, are talking about a “new beginning” or a “underlying preparation” for the next political circle.

After all, such a dynamic, coupled with international recognition and the fresh ideas it presented in the US, reinforce its position as a personality that remains present – if not on parliament’s seats, then certainly at the table of history.

A journey of knowledge, experience and political maturation

His stay at Harvard and his tour of Washington were not just an academic exercise or a diplomatic journey. It was a step of deepening in the new era of the great challenges.
And, as it turned out, a journey that, even silently, opens new horizons and leaves open the possibility of a new role of Alexis Tsipras in the future.
