Air Force and Navy is abolished, all in the land army from 2026 – What will Dendias announce

Radical changes to the army is expected to be announced today by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias In the context of Phase II of the Reformation of “Agenda 2030”.

Specifically, according to reports, the most iconic change is that of abolishing military service in a Navy and Air Force. All military men ranked since January 2026 will be compulsorily served in the Army, as provided by the second phase of the reorganization of the Armed Forces presented today at the Ministry of National Defense.

This reform is one of the most radical changes in the country’s military structure in recent decades, with the aim of better managing human resources, increasing operational readiness and reducing the cost of operating the Armed Forces.

According to reports, the second phase of the new forces structure includes, in addition to the change in the term of office, and a wide merger of units. The plan provides for the abolition of more than 30 formations and the utilization of camps released by the integration or relocation of existing units.

Increases in the salaries of gunmen

In the context of the announcements, Nikos Dendias also presented increases in the remuneration of the military, up to 20%. Specifically, the increases are reportedly ranging from 50 to 100 euros, depending on the criteria to be set. These criteria – as in earlier applications of similar benefits – are expected to be either economic, social or operational. The measure is part of the wider package of economic incentives promoted by the political leadership of the Ministry of Defense, both for the military and for ED executives.

It is recalled that at the end of March the first phase of the increase package, which concerned the active executives, had preceded the increases of 13% to 20%, depending on the degree and position of responsibility.
