In continuous operation the electrical interface her Crete With Attica, after the successful completion of the SAT Acceptance Tests (SAT) by the contractor, in collaboration with Ariadne Interconnection and ADMIE.
The electrical interconnection is in constant operation for the next two months and then the largest and most complex electricity transfer project made in the country will be in commercial operation. The successful transfer of electricity loads to and from Crete to various operation scenarios had been preceded in the last quarter.
There were also tests of the maximum capacity of each pole, which confirmed the possibility of electrical interconnection for two -way energy flow in real -life conditions.
The project is fully ensured by the energy adequacy of the four regional units of Crete and gradually “erase” the island’s power plants.
With the achievement of the safe supply of Crete consumers, without the need to operate local units, the island’s electric sizes will be fully integrated into the electricity market used for the mainland. Correspondingly, the implementation of the hybrid model will be terminated that has entered into force on Crete from 2021 until its double interconnection, via Attica and Peloponnese.
The Crete – Attica electric interconnection was implemented by co -financed by the YMEPERA Operational Program (NSRF 2014 – 2020) and the “Environment and Climate Change” of the NSRF 2021 – 2027 up to EUR 535.5 million.
