AADE: New fines and padlocks in tourist destinations – over 100 offenses in a week

They scan popular tourist destinations and in August, the auditors of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) performing extensive preventive checks for tax violations. Under the microscope of AADE, among others – islands with increased tourist traffic, such as Lemnos, Mytilene, Tinos, Crete (Chania and Heraklion), Santorini, Rhodes and Poros.

Specifically, AADE’s checks have revealed violations of catering businesses (cafes, bars, restaurants, ouzo), recreation areas, but also in services such as manicure – pedicure and lease beach equipment (umbrellas, seats). Businesses identified violations related to the non -issuance of evidence.

In all cases, the 48 -hour closure of the business and the imposition of fines was implemented.

At the same time, the AADE has asked these businesses over time to determine – on the basis of their tax behavior and intersection with its own data – if there are other violations.

Intensive controls continue nationwide throughout the tourist season, with the aim of combating tax evasion and strengthening transparency in the market – for the benefit of both consistent businesses and consumers.
