An extensive announcement on the case of disclosure of fraud at Piraeus Customs, in collaboration with the European Fraud of Fraud (OLAF) issued AADE.
In particular, AADE states that: “The European Fraud of Fraud (OLAF), in July 2024, has notified an Information Bulletin to the EU Member States for a possible pan -European fraud, which involved the import of electric bicycles without the payment of conventional duties (anti -dumplings).
Subsequently, OLAF organized two meetings with EU Member States (with the participation of the AADE/ Customs General Directorate & EFK), on October 23-24, 2024 and November 11-13, 2024, in which it was agreed that OLAF would continue to monitor the imports of the electronic trade in Execution that may store goods that have been illegally imported or have not paid the right import duties and VAT and will periodically control the electronic markets that send such goods to the final consumers.
As a consequence of these and a more specific request by OLAF, a operation was carried out (9/12/2024-13/12/2024), with the active participation of the AADE/Directorate-General for Customs and EFK, which included OLAF executives and Greek customs authorities, Companies and marine carriers, responsible for importing goods from China to Piraeus (with the final destination of various EU Member States), aiming to identify customs fraud for these goods, primarily e-bikes.
On 18/3/2025, the General Directorate of Customs and EFK received information from OLAF, according to which: Bulgarian importers introduced the products to the EU from China through the port of Piraeus, resulting in the loss of degradation and degradation. The OLAF subsequently informed the evolution of the case, its submission to the field of jurisdiction of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and asked the Greek Customs Authorities to adhere to extreme secrecy and to coordinate, in accordance with the orders of the Greek Office of European Prosecutors, prior to any action.
Subsequently, and in the above context, the AADE/ Customs authorities with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office followed a systematic cooperation of the AADE/ Customs authorities. On 25/6/2025, as part of the organization of a Pan -European Company for the suppression of a criminal network for the underestimation of EU Imports from China to the EU, AADE – in full cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and other national law enforcement authorities – provided all the necessary customs officials for Persons involved and in particular containers, also identifying the duty and taxes. “
