As highlighted by the AADE report, significant results were recorded, such as securing public revenue, enhancing compliance, fighting tax evasion, smuggling and upgrading services to citizens and businesses.
A wide range of digital, organizational and operational activities was implemented that substantially enhanced effectiveness and led to measurable results.
According to AADE, coordinated interventions, such as the interconnection of cash registers with POS, the utilization of mydata data and targeted checks, have contributed decisively to the increase in compliance, shaping the total amount of € 71.3 billion. At the same time, tax refunds of more than € 8 billion were paid.
Other actions were important that reinforced tax compliance. 1,706 companies were found that submitted zero VAT statements for 2023, although they were having normal activity. Following the intervention of AADE, they made corrections, declaring additional outflows of 60.9m euros.
Similarly, for 2022, 999 companies that had declared zero VAT complied after a crossing with the Mydata platform data, submitting statements of € 46.7 million. In addition, 1,423 legal entities who had not made any declaration for the same year were obliged to comply with a total tax of EUR 14.8 million.
The Customs Administration carried out more than 109,000 checks, utilizing modern risk analysis and input-outflow management tools. A typical example is the 3rd Customs Office of Piraeus, where drugs were seized worth more than 7 million euros.
At the same time, the fight against 122,000 laboratory tests, sampling and inspections on energy and alcoholic products, food and water was intensified, contributing to the protection of public health and the environment.
In the field of citizens and business service, digitization and centralization of services have yielded positive results. Through the platform “My Requests” more than 2.5 million demands were served. At the same time, 930,805 VAT and 395,079 locks were issued, and 91,161 appointments were made to DOU and Customs.
As AADE Governor George Pitsilis stated, “In 2024 we reinforced compliance, utilized the new technologies, upgraded our services and stood by the citizen and the business. Guided by the results of 2024 and fully aware of the challenges we have ahead of us, we continue consistently and dedicated the implementation of our mission. “
