The first step in modernizing the primary sector, in particular its agricultural productionis the new greenhouse reinforcement program crop which begins next summer and specifically on June 23.
The durability of agricultural production is inextricably linked to the development of modern autonomous production units, such as greenhouses, which are particularly favored in our country because of its geographical location and temperate Mediterranean climate. Ensuring the viability of natural resources becomes even more urgent, given the increasing risks caused by extreme weather events.
At the same time, securing the capital necessary in the agricultural sector is a critical factor in enhancing productive activity. The modernization of agricultural production has as its main goals to increase productivity and enhance resilience in order to meet the increased consumer demands for safe, high quality and nutritional value.
This is a particularly important intervention, with a public expense of € 150 million, which is expected – with private participation and over -ization – to mobilize total resources of 600m euros across the country.
The Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras told RES-EIA: “Greek Georgia is in a historical threshold. On the one hand, the challenges of the climate crisis, increased production costs and world uncertainty. On the other hand, the enormous potential of our country to produce unique products in products and the power of the soul of the people of the earth. The future belongs to a new, sustainable and innovative model of production, which will meet the needs of the modern age. And this future requires decisions, political will and specific choices. We have recently signed the greenhouse crops program, which is a national choice. It is the symbol of a new perception of production: which respects the environment, incorporates technology, supports the producer, builds perspective in the countryside. It is not enough to say that we want a Greece that is producing. We have to build it, step by step. Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government proves in practice that it has a plan, compass and determination. In deeds, not in words. For a primary sector that does not just follow the developments – it shapes them. For a Greece that is not afraid of tomorrow. He plans it, dares it and claims it. “
The General Manager of Piraeus Bank, Alcibiades Alexandrou, said in turn to RES-EIA: “Our strategic choice has been supporting the agri -food sector for years, as in Piraeus we envision a primary sector that will ensure the viability of natural resources and provide us with high quality and safety products. Given the climate crisis we believe that the modernization of the agri -food sector is not without. In this context, Piraeus created the center of excellence three years ago, specializing in the study and implementation of neuralgic works of the agri -food industry, which brought to light the need for our country to multiply, and of course to upgrade, about 8,500 products. We respond to the invitation of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for investments of a total budget of EUR 300 million in modern greenhouses, an amount that is part of the government announced by the government of 600 million euros. And we come to support producers, collective schemes and legal entities with both consulting and financial support. We implement a holistic plan to support greenhouse crops, in a protected and controlled environment, which creates reduced production costs and higher productivity. ”
The program
Applications will be accepted by August 26 with the budget of each investment plan among 30,000-1,000,000 euros.
The grant rate is defined as:
60% – Stretching technology equipment within eligible structures, hydroponics, aviation systems, purely electric motorcycles (tractors, collection engines, etc.)
50% – In all eligible expenses other than the above
In addition to the above
+10% max 70% – Young farmers regardless of the seats of a sector
+10% max 70% – Beneficiaries based in the Aegean islands
+10% maximum 65% – Beneficiaries based in Thessaly, IP Evros and Municipality of Domokos
+10% maximum 65% – Beneficiaries based in mainland areas included in the territorial plans of fair developmental transition (concerns Western Macedonia, ie Kozani and Florina, as well as Arcadia, where lignite units are foreseen.
Beneficiaries are:
- Natural persons: up to 63 years old, have submitted IACS 2024 and are registered in the register of farmers as professional farmers, as newcomers professional farmers or as farm holders.
- Legal Entities: In their statutes, they have an activity in the exercise of agriculture, they have a duration of 31.12.2035 & 5 years after the investment plan is completed and those who set up IPs that meet the requirements prior to submitting the application are eligible.
- Collective Schemes: Registered and up -to -date in the Registry, distinct accounting management and in the previous 3 years with a profitable average of tax and depreciation results and average turnover and Euro60,000 (excluding newly formed).
Eligible are the following expenses:
- Greenhouse facilities with hydroponics/aviation systems
- Conventional Greenhouse Installations
- Networks
- Told -type facilities to cover crop
- ISO 668 Grand Cultivation Boats 668
- Closed mushroom chamber.
Some indicative eligible investments are:
- Construction, expansion and modernization of agricultural structures (classic greenhouses on the ground, hydroponic greenhouses, networks, high tol -type facilities for crop coverage, closed mushroom cultivation chamber, closed box of 668)
- Investments contributing to RES (agrarian, photovoltaic, etc.)
- Purchase, transport and installation of perennial plantations
- Buying a new car with a refrigerant chamber to serve flower production
- General Expenditure, which includes any expenditure of receiving services linked to the plan
- Mechanical equipment: a) Hydroponic systems, heating equipment, curtains, heating and cooling systems, etc., b) Agricultural tractors of T2 and T4.1 (<70hp), c) vegetable production used exclusively within greenhouses such as soil machines Collection, pruning and sliding, tractor components
- Purchase of land (up to 10% of total eligible costs) and constructions to serve greenhouse ([αποθήκες, ψυγεία, διαλογητήρια] <800 sqm, umbilicals, houses <60 sqm).
In sixth place Greece in greenhouse farms
In a total of European Union, the holdings, according to data from the Hellenic Statistical Service, amount to 167,570 and grow at 1.4 million acres. Our country occupies the sixth place on the list of 8,319 farms in 48,720 acres.
Italy is in the first place with a total of 28,720 farms and land reaching 389,100 acres, followed by Spain with 21,860 farms and 452,000 acres. The first three is completed by Romania with 19,570 farms in 33,000 acres. It is worth noting, however, that neighboring Turkey has greenhouse farms extending to an area of 750,000 acres, more than ½ of the total European greenhouse installations.
Finally, it is noted that in the Greek territory, the lion’s share is held by the island of Crete with a total of 2,932 farms in 15,509 acres. Following is Central Macedonia with 1,470 farms in 5,333 acres and Western Greece with 774 farms in 15,627 acres.
