Vangelis Nikitopoulos, an old player and coach of the AEK basketball team died

Vangelis Nikitopoulos, known for the nickname “Swedish”, was a great player of the basketball AEK, with whom he won four championships in the 1960s. But he also served the team as a coach, with three terms on the club’s bench (1987-88, 1989-90, 1991-92) and two participants in the Greek Cup finals.

He started his career with Sporting, where he was also a coach, and with the club’s women’s team he reached a Final Four twice.
