THE Manolo Jimenez will be the central figure of his struggle Mars with AEK at Opap Arena for the 11th matchday of the Super League.
The former coach of AEK and now of Aris, Manolo Jimenez, spoke about Sunday’s game and admitted that it is special for him, which is logical since he won the championship and the Cup in Greece with the Union.
“I am a professional and at the moment I am the coach of Aris and I will give everything for my team. Of course, it is a given that in these four seasons, when I was at AEK, I had great joys. I feel the love of the AEK community. Similarly, I feel the same love from the world of Mars and I want to earn their respect with my work. Certainly, I want to win titles with Aris and go to many finals”, said Manolo Jimenez in an interview he gave to Novasports channels.
“I’m not satisfied with the points we’ve gotten so far. It is clear that from now on we have to give much more of our good self, to be able to improve the situation.
At the break we focused on creating more goal-scoring phases. We have to stick with it, despite the difficulties we face as a team. Many dwell on the “cold” numbers of statistics, however, the analyzes must be deeper because we have reached this situation. Because, it is not at all easy to be two and a half to three months with an average of five or six key players injured every week,” added the Spanish coach.
Manolo Jimenez spoke about the absences: “In the beginning we were one of the best teams in creating chances. However, we should be much more effective in the opposing area. It plays a role in the fact that for three months we have only had one player as a point of reference in the opposing area, Laurent Moron. I will say again that it is easy to rely only on statistical numbers. What is difficult is to investigate why we have reached these statistical numbers.”
Entering the purely competitive part, in view of the match against AEK, the Spanish coach stated that “we must try in every way not to let them play their game easily. We have to show our personality on the pitch and be brave when we have the ball at our feet. Finally, we have to give the world of our team what it deserves and we haven’t given it for so long.”
