Tension in the Examination for OPEKEPE: Tzedakis answers that Lazaridis moved threateningly towards him

A tense atmosphere prevailed in Commission of Inquiry for OPEKEPE, with a serious complaint that raises the tone even more. In the wake of of what was discussed in the previous daysthe deputy governor of Crete, Stavros Tzedakiswith his public post on Facebook, claims that the deputy of New Democracy Makarios Lazaridis moved threateningly against him during the adjournment of the meeting.

“Ok. Lazaridis, during the interruption of the meeting, moved towards me in a threatening manner, shouting and with the obvious intention of intimidating me”, says the deputy governors, describing an incident which, as he claims, occurred in front of bystanders and members of the Commission.

The statement of Mr. Tzedakis in more detail:

“In the last 24 hours after my testimony as a witness to the Commission of Inquiry, I have been watching the false description of what was said during the adjournment of the meeting.

I notice a selective selection of my aversions from the minutes and completely ignoring what the deputies present, who rushed to restrain Mr. Lazaridis, said about the event. All this in an attempt to cover up the inexplicable and unacceptable behavior of the MP of the New Democracy.

I repeat: Mr. Lazaridis, during the interruption of the meeting, moved towards me in a threatening manner, shouting and with the obvious intention of intimidating me. Present MPs restrained him and the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, New Democracy Member of Parliament Mr. Nikolopoulos removed him by leading him out of the room.

When the meeting started again, I was asked twice by Mr. Lazaridis and, as can be heard in the videos of the meeting, I answered: “Physically no, you didn’t even beat me” and in the next question I told him: “You disturbed me. You came in front of me and told me: “You get subsidies”.

The brazen attempt by Mr. Marinakis and the propaganda mechanisms of the New Democracy to present my pre-teenage as… a virtual reality, at a time when the facts are clearly confirmed by MPs from opposition parties who were present, shows that not only do they not condemn such attitudes, but in practice they adopt and cover them up.

With my testimony to the Commission of Inquiry, the attempt of some to drag me down personally, to tarnish my professional path and my engagement with the public, as well as to carry out a character assassination against me, came to nothing. Truth and honesty do not hide under the mud, no matter how much some work to the contrary.

We are not afraid of you, Mr. Lazaridis!

The trivialization of institutions will not pass.”
