Clear position on the new data that have emerged in the last few hours on the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine received today (21.11.2025) by its General Secretary UNAntonio Guterres.
Following the unveiling of the US peace plan for Ukraine and Donald Trump’s ultimatum to Volodymyr Zelensky to respond by November 27, 2025, the UN chief sent a very clear message in all directions.
In particular, Antonio Guterres warned that any “peaceful solution” for Ukraine must respect its “territorial integrity”, on the eve of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.
Asked during a press conference about the plan for Ukraine presented by the US, the Secretary General of the United Nations underlined that this plan was “never officially presented by the US or any other entity”.
But a peace plan should respect the UN Charter and international law, he then added.
«A peaceful solution for Ukraine in agreementa with these principles should also be respected resolutions her General Assembly (of the UN), which state clearly how the territorial integrity of Ukraine and in general throughout the world the territorial integrity of States, must be respected“, he pointed out.
The Finnish president also intervened
At the same time, statements about the rapid political and diplomatic developments in Ukrainian were made by the President of Finland Alexander Stubb and other top government officials of the country
“Ukraine must be allowed to make its own decisions about how to end the war with Russia,” they said in a joint statement.
For “issues concerning Ukraine, Ukraine must decide, and decisions about Europe cannot be made without Europe’s participation,” the Finnish president and the country’s foreign policy ministerial committee emphasize.
