The ND with an opponent… itself in three opinion polls – The aim is to improve the image using the economy as a weapon

After a period of intense pressure, the government appears to be entering the final stretch of the year in a slightly better position than in the recent past, at least based on the last three Pulse polls (SKAI), of HI (Open) and her Metron Analysis (Mega). And this is because the ND appears to have halted the downward trend of the October readings, when the effect of the TIF package weakened, and to be at or even surpass the performance of the European elections in the vote estimation, while positive financial “mandates” for the citizens are coming in the coming weeks.

In all three surveys, the ND “pinches” half a unit, taking advantage of the positive climate created by the recent developments on the energy and geopolitical fronts. On the other hand, accuracy remains a major thorn in an overwhelming percentage, while the government is rated negatively for its handling of the OPEKEPE case, as well as that of ELTA.

In the MRB survey the ND “writes” 29.1% in the vote estimate, in that of Metron Analysis 29.3%, while in the Pulse survey the ND “writes” 3 ahead and returns to the percentage of 30%. In this environment, the difference between ND and PASOK remains abysmal, between 12 and 18 points, while Kyriakos Velopoulos’ Greek Solution and Zoe Konstantopoulou’s Freedom Sailing fight for third place. However, in all three surveys, citizens’ interest in the creation of new parties is recorded, but greater for a party led by Mr. Tsipras compared to a party led by Mr. Samaras. To be sure, the pool of undecideds remains full, although the Metron Analysis survey records 39% seeking political stability – versus 60% calling for political change.

Income enhancement

The bet now for Megaros Maximos is to close the year with a more positive sign, as positive developments in the economy are imminent. By the end of the month, 70% of the basic aid to farmers and breeders will be paid, after yesterday’s green light from the Commission, while at the end of November, payments for the rent allowance and aid to pensioners will also be made. Also, the budget incorporating the TIF measures was submitted yesterday, which will be seen as early as January of the new year, while Mr. Mitsotakis is expected to have some more “papers” in the Budget debate, apart from the renovation subsidy program he will announce, with the aim of bringing more foreclosed properties onto the market.

Regarding the budget analyzed yesterday by Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the growth rate is expected to rise to 2.2% in 2025 and 2.4% in 2026, compared to 1.3% and 1.2% for the Eurozone respectively. Both the tax reform and the interventions announced by the prime minister at the TIF play an important role, while the income of citizens is directly boosted through the structural reform of income taxation with an emphasis on young people, families with children and the middle class.
