THE Panathinaikos stepped on… the gas in the second half and “cleaned” easily with 103-82 with the Dubai BC at the Telecom Center Athens, for the 12th matchday of the Euroleague, celebrating its third consecutive victory in the competition.
With Nan and Sluka having a “party” in the third quarter and his defense “tightening” in this period, Panathinaikos managed to overturn the score against Dubai BC and reach a comfortable victory, its third consecutive in the Euroleague.
The “greens” thus raised their record to 8-4 in the Euroleague standings, dropping Dubai BC to 5-7. The only problem for Panathinaikos is the new injury, with Osman leaving in the first quarter with a sprain and not competing in the rest of the match.
The game
Panathinaikos started the game strongly, finding attacking solutions from several of their players early on, but their defense was no match and DubaI BC scored easy points, with the match constantly changing the lead. The two teams effectively “returned” baskets for a long time in the first quarter and the score was 25-24. During this period, however, Panathinaikos also lost Cedi Osman, who went to the locker room with an injury, having managed to score 7 points.
In the second period, Panathinaikos continued at the same pace, with Farid having four blocks, but his defense… and Dubai BC taking the lead with the protagonists of Cabegele and Ellis. Slukas with 8 points “unstuck” the attack of the “clover” and the match remained a derby until the end of the first half, which ended with the score at 48-45 in favor of the visitors.

After the break, however, Panathinaikos appeared transformed for the better. The “greens” managed to get more energy out of their defense and limit Dubai, while Nan started to pick up the pace in attack and Slukas continued at the same pace. The leader of the “trefoil” quickly reached 15 points, to give his team the lead with a three-pointer and set “fire” in the stands, which also shouted his name. Panathinaikos thus ran a great streak at the end of the period and “closed” it with a 75-62 win.
The “greens” even kept Dubai BC without a basket for almost 6 minutes, with Grant and Rogavopoulos also entering the equation to put an early end to the match. Panathinaikos made a “walk” in the last minutes and “launched” the difference even more, to finally reach an imposing victory with a score of 103-82.
