The Hellenic Post Office made clarifications (ELTA) after the recent publications mentioned in the insurance policy contract D&O.
Specifically, the D&O insurance policy concerns the members of the Board of Directors and the executives of the ELTA company. This is a common international practice that helps the proper and safe operation of the administration.
In particular, ELTA has had a D&O insurance policy since 2013, which covers all the members of the Board of Directors, as is the case with all the Boards of Directors of organizations and companies that apply modern corporate governance rules, as well as the Company’s Executives. The decision to renew/take out the new insurance policy was taken in September 2025, within the framework of standard corporate practice and based on the prescribed procedures. The contract was signed after the detailed evaluation of the offers was completed.
ELTA’s Procurement department, through an external insurance consultant, addressed 22 international Directors & Executives (D&O) insurers. Quotations were submitted by 7 D&O insurers, which were reviewed for pricing, terms and scope of coverage.
The process resulted in 4 final offers, which were evaluated by the competent bodies, before the final selection and signing of the insurance policy. The cost remained the same as last year.
The signing of the published payment order by the responsible General Manager was the last part of a formal process that had started several months before and concerns the payment of the first installment of the contract.
D&O insurance coverage is a well-established international corporate practice, which is applied for the smooth functioning of administrative bodies and the shielding of executives who carry out duties of responsibility.
