The fourth distribution compensations to the farmers affected by the blessingamounting to 12,248,642.97 euros, was approved by decision of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras.
According to the YPAAT, 48,080,149.29 euros have been paid to date for the operational costs of the Regions and compensations for livestock farmers, covering all the affected areas of the country.
The biggest payouts have been directed to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (17,656,738.31 euros) and in Thessaly (16,463,708.27 euros)while followed by Western Greece (4,573,114.34 euros)h Central Macedonia (4,150,980.29 euros) and the Central Greece (2,104,458.36 euros).
The 4th allocation of 2025 reparations reinforces Thessaly again, which receives the largest part, amounting to 6,962,120.96 euros, while 3,438,114.12 euros are paid to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Significant funding is also directed to Western Greece (1,017,027.98 euros), Central Macedonia (416,719.79 euros) and Central Greece (413,405.72 euros. Finally, it is noted that the compensation per killed animal reaches up to 250 euros, the highest in the European Union.
“We consistently continue to support the farmers affected by smallpox and the Regions that have shouldered the burden of dealing with the crisis. The smooth flow of payments and the strengthening of veterinary services prove our commitment to support the Greek livestock industry in practice”, emphasized Mr. Tsiaras in his statement.
He added THAT: “the protection of livestock is the responsibility of all of us and requires strict adherence to biosecurity measures. The cooperation of the state, regions and producers is the only way to ensure the future of Greek livestock production”.
