She is shocked Italy from the gruesome murder of a 9-year-old boy by his mother, slitting his throat with a large knife kitchen.
The woman, 55-year-old Olena Stasiuk of Ukrainian origin according to Corriere della Sera, took her son’s life inside their home with a knife before attempting to commit suicide.
Police in Muggia, in the province of Trieste, discovered the boy’s body on Wednesday night (12.11.2025) after being alerted by his father.
The man, whose name has not yet been released and who is separated from the woman, became concerned for the boy’s safety when he was unable to contact his mother.
Officers who arrived at the home confirmed the death of the boy, who was found on the bathroom floor, and arrested the woman. The child had been dead for several hours before the police arrived.
After the parents’ divorce, custody of the son was assigned to the father, while the Ukrainian mother retained the right to see him. The woman was under observation by the court and the Mental Health Center.
According to the first information, it was one of the first times that she had the responsibility of taking care of the child alone.
The police continue to investigate the tragedy.
