According to information, the leaks of the pages of “Ithaca”, the new one, were informed by… the internet book of the former Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras the staff of the Gutenberg publishing house, in a development that surprised everyone involved in the publishing venture, creating new data for its circulation, but also for most of its executives SYRIZA.
According to his information protothema.growners and connoisseurs of the contents of the book were exclusively the staff of the publishing house and its author, that is, Alexis Tsipras, whenever the leakage of the contents became practically impossible, but… real, as it turned out.
For this reason, the staff of the particular publishing house consider this to be “eavesdropping”with the Tsipras book taking on even more characteristics of a political thriller, the current episode of which is unfolding today in… the courts.
Specifically, Mr publishing house which oversees the publication of Mr. Tsipras’s book has resorted to legal means to prevent, according to information, any new leaks in view of the circulation of the Sunday newspapers, at the moment it is an unpublished text, which cannot – due to the imminent circulation – be in the possession of third parties, as it is claimed.
In detail, the announcement of the publishing house:
The publishing house Gutenberg is in the unpleasant position of reminding everyone of the self-evident: The decision of when and how to publish a work or part of it, as well as its reproduction, rests solely with its author and the publishing house to which the relevant rights have been assigned.
The provisions protecting intellectual property against illegal acquisition, reproduction and publication are clear and strict.
In this context, our publishing house informs that for the first time, in our many years of work in the field of books, we have been forced to take legal action in order to stop the circulation of publications containing excerpts from the book “ITHAKI” by Alexis Tsipras, which have apparently been illegally obtained through interception of electronic files.
We expressly state that our publishing house reserves the right to exercise any legal remedy in case of new publications or any re-publications that violate the relevant provisions of the Law on the Protection of Intellectual Property.
Documento
On Thursday morning, the editor of Documento, Costas Vaxevanis, mockingly commented on the developments in the case with a post, writing “The rebranding succeeded. This time it is not Mitsotakis who is sending me to the courts, but Tsipras.”
For its part, the newspaper Document announced yesterday that they were filed against her insurance measuresto publish excerpts from the book. As the Medium claims, the injunctions were filed “so that the book does not judge”.
Among other things, the newspaper states “we saw this too. The publishing house that publishes Alexis Tsipras’s book “Ithaca” is taking Documento tomorrow before the Single-Member Court of First Instance, following a request for injunctive measures which are summarized in the following request: to download a publication that criticizes what the former prime minister writes in his book, even quoting the relevant passage. The publication concerns what Alexis Tsipras says about the issue of television licenses, and specifically his “self-criticism”, that he was aggressive towards the channel owners”, while in his article, the publisher Kostas Vaxevanis concludes: “I should note for historical reasons, that when Tsipras was weighing the political interest in order not to clash in the Novartis case, some journalists and prosecutors played the game them. And he knew this very well himself. In addition, unlike the former prime minister who played it safe and for his party, they had no immunities. In his book, however (again well) he sympathizes with those of us who have done our duty. Another Ithaca and another para-Ithaca”
Political side effects
In the meantime, there is an effervescence among the executives of the SYRIZA PS, who were initially trying to understand if the leaks were “authentic”, in order to position themselves politically in the new data. Much more so when the controversial passages published concern cases with political costs and strong social impact, such as the Novartis case.
In this direction, the Member of Parliament of Chania, Pavlos Polakis commented on social networks that “if what Vaxevanis writes is true, then, wow…. I’m waiting for the book because I hear different things…. and I will definitely DEFEND my DIGNITY and the TRUTH!!!”.
On the contrary, “the publication of excerpts from a book before its official publication and without the author’s or publisher’s permission constitutes a violation of copyright,” notes the SYRIZA member of parliament. Elena Akrita citing national as well as European legislation, concluding that “any journalistic reference to an unpublished book must be limited to information, not content”.
