An important action to combat driving under the influence of alcohol is undertaken in Thessaloniki the Pharmaceutical Association (VAT) and the Association of Pharmacists (SY.FA.), in collaboration with the Directorate Traffic officer of the city.
The action will take place next day November 14thfrom 10:30 in the morning to 12:30 in the afternoon, in the heart of the city, on the street Tsimiski (at the height of Aristotle). During its duration, they will be distributed free self-test breath alcohol detection in passing drivers.
This is the first test of its kind, which provides reliable result in just two minutes. As FST emphasizes, it is a valuable prevention tool and personal responsibilityallowing each driver to check for themselves whether their alcohol levels allow safe driving. These tests are already available for sale in pharmacies.
The statistics are alarming: the 25% of fatal traffic accidents of accidents is linked to alcohol consumption, with rates being even higher at young ages. The big problem, according to surveys, is that many drivers they don’t realize that they have exceeded the limit. Alcohol increases self-confidence, but at the same time dramatically reduces reflexes.
The president of the Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki, Dionysios Eugenidessaid that the test is easy to use and fast, while it is already being observed increased demand in pharmacies, mainly from younger ages. The aim of the action is to strengthen it self control of citizens before they take the wheel.
