The Dow Jones industrial average rose to new highs on Wednesday (12.11.25), extending the previous session’s gains, as Wall Street looks ahead to a possible end to the record US government shutdown.
Specifically, at the close of Wall Street, the Dow Jones recorded a rise of +0.68%, the S&P 500 moved marginally higher at +0.08%, while the Nasdaq was at -0.26%.
Investors are closely watching developments in Washington, as the federal government could reopen as early as the end of this week. The Senate on Monday night (10.11.25) passed a spending bill, which has since been referred to the House of Representatives for a final vote.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, told CNBC on Wednesday that he expects the House to vote on the bill around 7 p.m. (ET).
