Hatzidakis: “Greek industry has created 60,000 new jobs”

On the occasion of the completion of the new units at the Hellenic Cables factory in Corinth, the deputy prime minister Kostis Hatzidakis visited the company’s premises.

After a tour of the modern production facilities by the managing director and member of the Board of Directors of Viohalco, Ioannis Stasinopoulos, and the managing director of Cenergy Holdings, Alexis Alexiou, Mr. Hatzidakis had the opportunity to be informed in detail about the operation, recent investments and export activities of the company.

When his visit was over, the deputy prime minister said in a post on social media that “Greeks are champions even in areas that we don’t even imagine ourselves! There are Greek industries that would be the envy of even the most advanced countries in the world! One of them is the company Hellenic Cables in Corinth, which I visited today. It is a dynamic and innovative company, which produces and exports highly advanced technological, energy and telecommunication cables. And it participates in particularly demanding energy projects in Greece, but also internationally.”

One of them, he continued, was β€œthe Peloponnese-Crete electrical interconnection, for which he built the AC submarine cable. The company has recently expanded its facilities, with particularly modern machinery and many new staff recruitments, while a total of 1,200 people work in this factory”.

Overall, “in recent years, industrial activity and industry exports have been increasing. While 60,000 new jobs have been created. All this is obviously the result of the significant effort made by entrepreneurs and their employees, but at the same time it is also the result of the pro-investment policy of the government. With this in mind, we are working on an intervention, as the Prime Minister has already announced, to reduce energy costs for industries, with an emphasis on energy-intensive ones, which will support their activity and safeguard their jobs. The Greek industry is standing and we are supporting it in action”, underlined the deputy prime minister in closing.
