Come in difficult Sundays for our country’s electricity network – in full readiness the authorities

Within next week, the Energy Regulatory Authority’s decision on the extraordinary cuts of RES units (photovoltaic-ayolika) is expected to be published in the following week in order to protect the network power against the danger blackout.

This is the well -known problem of over -supply of electricity at noon, which on Sundays culminate and tested the system strongly, creating a risk of blackout. The situation is expected to reach Easter at its peak, but the authorities point out that it is valid during the whole spring in low demand days.

As RAAE’s Vice President Dimitris Fourlaris, “after April 6, will be difficult for the network on Thursday, speaking to a conference.

In order to address the phenomenon, the plan promoted by the authorities includes two different groups of RES projects on the DEDDIE network. Group A has the option of remote control, so the manager will automatically give the order to stop their operation when needed. In the case of Group B, the producers will be sent to the producers to do their own.

Naturally, a fine of EUR 500 per megawatt is provided for any producer who does not obey, which will increase to EUR 1,000 or even EUR 1,500 in the event of a recurrence.

It goes without saying that the authorities will not wait until Easter and will already make sure they send the relevant messages to “test” the response of the producers. The first date that is expected to be massively needed is the following Sunday, April 6th.

However, it should be emphasized that the above solution is clearly ad hoc, as it is partly to the generosity of producers to stop their works. In the long run, timely implementation of the first storage units is considered necessary to give the problem permanently.
