An emotional moment unfolded in Belgrade, in the final of the match Partizan – Monaco (78-76) for the 10th matchday of the Euroleague, as Zeljko Obradovic and Vasilis Spanoulis they exchanged a warm hug, 15 years after the break in their relationship.
Spanoulis’ Monaco staged an impressive counterattack in the fourth quarter, coming back from a double-digit deficit. In the end, though, Mike James’ game-winning 3-pointer fell short, giving Zeljko Obradovic’s Partizan the win in a thriller.
In fact, immediately after the end, the Serbian coach approached the Greek technician and the two men exchanged a warm hug, showing that the old differences between them now belong to the past. At the same time, the two of them also had a short dialogue, with the television cameras capturing the said rare moment.
In fact, this was their first hug 15 years after Spanoulis left Panathinaikos in the summer of 2009, when he had caused enormous tension in his relationship with Zots, who was then at the helm of the “greens”.
