Google plans to invest $5 billion in Germany – New data center and expansion of facilities

Google’s plans, according to the same sources, include a new data center in Ditzenbach, Germany, and the expansion of the already existing facility in Hanau. In addition, because the applications of artificial intelligence are particularly energy-intensive, projects of an energy nature are planned, using renewable sources and recycled electricity.

“In the global fight for artificial intelligence and economic competitiveness, digitization, environmentally friendly technologies and secure, dominant cloud services must be considered together,” Google will announce according to BILD, which describes the venture as “the largest investment project in Germany to date.”
