unacceptable, if not third worldare the conditions prevailing at Hospital of Rioas images brought to light by ANT1 show pigeons taking… walks in the corridors and eating from patients’ trays.
The problem was identified a few months ago, when pigeons’ nests were found in the false ceiling of the hospital. At the time, officials had closed the holes and destroyed the nests, but the birds returned and created new ones outside the building.
This results in the pigeons being very close to the hospital and burrowing inside at the first opportunity. Many times, in fact, the patients and nursing staff they don’t even open the windows, to ventilate the space – important for a hospital – because the pigeons… invade.
