The Prime Minister toured Europe
During his tour in Rodopi, the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Komotini General Hospital under construction, which is a donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
The prime minister was given a tour by the Director of Security of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Ioannis Raptakis, and was informed about the progress of the work and the schedule for the completion of the project.
“Thank you to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, for the three hospitals that are being built, one of which is the General Hospital of Komotini. It will be the most modern that the National Health System will have and I am indeed very happy about the rapid progress of the works, with an implementation horizon for all three hospitals in early 2027. And of course let’s say that it is not only the building, it is the processes, the people, the digital technology that has been fully integrated into the way the hospital is organized”, said the Prime Minister and continued: “We are really talking about a hospital that will be a real hospital of the 21st century and a “jewel”, one of the three “jewels” of the National Health System, and of course in an area which has so many needs and so many sensitivities. And with a lot of green space, let’s say that too. A large park is actually made around the hospital. Good luck, then, to the opening.”
Earlier, the prime minister visited the Music School of Komotini, where he was guided by its director Ilias Ioannakis and the director of Rodopis Regional Education Marigoula Kosmidou to the facilities and had the opportunity to see up close the interactive boards, which have been placed in the country’s schools for the educational needs of students from 5th Primary to 3rd High School. Kyriakos Mitsotakis talked to students and teachers and attended a musical performance with traditional Thracian sounds, in the school’s auditorium.
βTo say how much I value schools that have these characteristics of inclusion, which are demonstrated here in your school. And why I didn’t come here to speak, but to listen, to keep only my commitment that, as soon as possible, you will have the musical instruments you are missing, to immediately continue what you love”, said the Prime Minister, according to APE BEE.
Then he was guided to the Karatheodoris Museum, which is housed in the Tsanaklio Mansion. Concluding his tour, he met in the reading room of the Megaros with young people from the area and the rector of the Democritus University, Fotis Maris, and discussed with them about artificial intelligence, the study programs, the cooperation of the Democritus University with foreign schools, student life and housing issues.
Mr. Mitsotakis also met with the Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini Panteleimon and the Superintendent Mufti of Komotini Serif Damadoglou Yassiar, at the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos, the Deputy Minister of the Interior of Macedonia-Thrace Kostas Giulekas, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Thanasis Kontogeorgis, the secretary of the Political Committee of the New Democracy and MP for Trikala of the New Democracy Kostas Skrekas and the MP Rodopis Evripidis Stylianidis.
