Theodorikakos on the competitive Greece of 2030: The country that produces, exports and innovates

“The only really safe Greece is the productive and competitive Greece Greece of 2030 that we plan and implement: a country that produces, exports and innovates”, emphasized the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakosin his video greeting at the 8th Athens Investment Forum.

In the context of the forum organized by the Technical Chamber of Greece and Vertical Solutions SA, Takis Theodorikakos pointed out that in the constantly changing international geopolitical environment, “development and security are two aspects of the same national strategy. And we implement this concept with the productive transformation of our economy”.

Mr. Theodorikakos then stated that the new development law gives priority to productive investments, with the aim of strengthening industry and manufacturing, enhancing competitiveness and innovation. “With special regimes, amounting to 150 million euros each, for manufacturing, border regions – to keep their productive base alive – large investments but also extroversion,” he said characteristically.

He underlined that the market’s response to the first two regimes, which also concern small and medium-sized enterprises, was important, as “361 investment projects were submitted, amounting to 1.5 billion euros. It is a clear vote of confidence in the direction we have set, but also in the potential of the Greek economy”.

He also emphasized that the Ministry of Development is also moving forward with a new regime of 150 million euros for the defense industry, with strong over-depreciation incentives, but also with a new regime for new technologies and Artificial Intelligence. As the Minister of Development said, “we want to support investments that will bring innovation to production and small and medium entrepreneurship”.
