Lionel Messi on Barcelona: “I imagined I would play my whole career there”

O Lionel Messi he has given a huge interview to the Catalan “Sport”, excerpts of which are constantly being published. The Argentine was asked about his historic presence in Barcelona but also the way in which he left it.

Lionel Messi repeated once again that he wanted to spend his entire career in Barcelona and emphasizing that the “goodbye” with the “Blaugrana” was strange.

β€œI was left with a strange feeling after I left because of how everything happened, because I ended up playing my last years without fans because of the pandemic. After spending my whole life there, I didn’t leave as I imagined, as I dreamed. I imagined, as I said, playing my whole career in Europe, in Barcelona. And so the goodbye was a little weird too, because of the situation, because of all of that. But, well, I think the love of the fans will always be there, because of what I’ve said, because of everything we’ve been through.” said Lionel Messi characteristically.

The Argentine was also asked about his happiest moment/era at the club: “It’s hard to pick just one. Thank God I was lucky enough to experience so many moments. I don’t know, generally when we talk about happiness, we think about titles, achievements, the important things we have accomplished. But the first half under Guardiola was excellent, and the last Champions League under Luis Enrique was too. I don’t know, it’s hard to pick just one moment.”

For his presence in Paris Saint-Germain, even if it was… nightmarish as many described it: β€œIt also seems that in Paris it was a nightmare, but it was not. When I say I didn’t have a good time, it’s because I wasn’t happy with what I was doing and what I like to do – playing football, the daily routine, training, matches – because I just didn’t feel good. But then, honestly, we had a really great experience as a family. The city is impressive, we enjoyed it.”
