Thessaloniki: Farmers at YMATH with their tractors – “We will not leave here unless we meet the minister”
In front of the Ministry of Macedonia – Thrace, in the center of Thessaloniki, the farmers arrived with their tractors, as part of the mobilization they are carrying out today. Specifically, farmers from Epanomi and Thermi crossed the National Highway of Thessaloniki – Moudania and entered the city center, ending up outside his building Dimitriou.
They wish to meet with his representative YMATH while declaring their willingness to remain outside from the Directorate until their request for a meeting with a representative of the government is accepted.
In fact, they tied a wire rope to the main gate of YMATH which they connected to a tractor, expressing the intention even to drop the iron door. A short time later, police officers removed the barbed wire.
«We came for serious issues to give our demands to the government and the minister blew it through the back door. We won’t leave here without him let’s see», said farmer Vassilis Mavroskas.

A tense atmosphere prevailed in Alexandroupolis, as farmers blocked the city airport with their tractorsin view of the visit of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The MAT forces lined up in front of the facilities, wearing helmets and shields, in order to prevent the blockade and ensure the smooth passage of the Prime Minister, but clashes were inevitable. Despite the presence of the security forces, there was no shortage of tensions and clashes. The farmers had already lined up their tractors at the airport since yesterday afternoon and today they are shouting and reacting, mainly about the OPEKEPE subsidies. In fact, through an announcement, they asked the Prime Minister to avoid passing by the spot, in order not to create conflicts with the police forces.

According to the latest developments, Prime minister has already landed in Alexandroupoli, where he will start his tour. According to the schedule of his visit Kyriakou Mitsotakis, after Alexandroupoli, the Prime Minister will go to Maroneia and then to the DESFA Compression Station in the Industrial Area of Komotini, where he will also visit its facilities company Interplast. Afterwards, visits to the Music School of Komotini and the Museum are planned Karatheodoria meeting with young people of the city and finally at the construction site of the new Komotini General Hospital, which is being built by Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
