AADE: VAT fraud with used cars – Loss of more than 212,000 euros

A well organized trick to avoid VAT in used cars within the EU, the audits of the Independent Public Revenue Authority revealed (AADE).

According to the data of the AADE auditors, Greek used vehicle companies were cooperating with a Bulgarian front company. The Bulgarian company was buying cars from Germany with normal VAT and reselling them to the Greek companies, falsely showing that the Profit Margin Regime was in effect. Thus, Greek buyers avoided paying VAT during customs clearance of vehicles in Greece.

So far, 19 vehicles have been identified, mostly luxury ones, worth more than 885,000 euros, while the damage to the Greek public exceeds 212,000 euros.

AADE continues the investigation, utilizing all available digital and control tools, as there are suspicions for other similar cases.
