Three new strategic investments amounting to 205.8 million euros were approved by the Interministerial Strategy Committee Investmentstwo in industry and one in tourism.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis, the Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, and the Secretary General of Private Investments Stellina Siarapi. The Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanli also took part in the discussion on the tourism investment.
1. “Olympus Project” of AGET HERACLES – HOLCIM in Milaki, Evia
It is a flagship investment of exceptional importance of 99 million euros, which introduces to Greece one of the most advanced industrial technologies in the field of building materials in Europe.
The project concerns the fundamental change of the production process at the Milaki cement factory, with the aim of drastically reducing CO₂ emissions, reducing energy consumption and increasing production capacity. By installing innovative systems for heat recovery, electricity production from hot exhaust gases, waste treatment and the use of secondary fuels, CO₂ emissions will be reduced below European limits, effectively contributing to the “green” transition of Greek industry. The investment will create 20 new, highly skilled and highly paid jobs.
2. New production unit of NEOTECH S.A. in Magoula Attica
It concerns a flagship investment of exceptional importance for the creation of a new production unit of advanced insulating and resinous materials in the Magoula Business Park, with a budget of 21.4 million euros, by NEOTEX, a Greek company with an export presence in 70 countries and 4 continents.
The project envisages the creation of modern facilities for the production and storage of building materials, with the aim of strengthening the company’s competitiveness and production capacity in innovative waterproofing, insulation and floor protection products.
3. Tourist unit of ATOKOS EPE in Ithaca
It is a strategic investment with a budget of 85.4 million euros for the creation of a luxury tourist complex at Filiatro Ithakis, by the Tsakou Group. It includes a 5-star hotel with 60 beds, 50 villas, spa, restaurants, also foreseeing the creation of a tourist harbor facility with a waterway. The investment will create 71 new jobs.
With today’s approvals, the total number of strategic investments approved in the last year stands at 18, totaling EUR 2.7 billion, which is the highest number of strategic investments in recent years. Of these, 9 concern industry, 7 tourism, and 2 research, innovation and technology.
