Nicolas Sarkozy: The court decides whether he will be released or remain in prison

Today is a critical day for him Nicolas Sarkozy. Three weeks after he crossed the threshold of La Sade prison in Paris, Sarkozy will participate via video conference from his cell in his parole hearing, expected before Christmas, if not immediately.

The decision on Nicolas Sarkozy is expected within the day as the law that gives judges two months to consider requests for release from prison, is set to 20 days for the 70-year-old former President of France.

He made it clear from the first moment that he will appeal as he does not expect a pardon for the five-year sentence imposed against him in relation to the financing of his election campaign in 2007 by the then Gaddafi regime of Libya.

As Europe 1 revealed, since October 21, the first day in his cell, the former president receives more than a hundred letters a day. Each day, his lawyers leave the prison with white burlap bags containing about a hundred letters, as prison authorities have warned that “the cell will overflow”.

Sarkozy himself thanked the senders and repeated that “imprisonment is not the end of the matter.”
