“Administrative check done?”
The press representative of PASOK-Movement of Change accused the government of discrediting ELTA in order to prepare for their privatization. Kostas Tsoukalas, in his televised appearance on Sky, proceeding, as stated in the relevant press release of the party, to “serious revelations that expose the management of ELTA and the government”.
Mr. Tsoukalas stated that “the government does not respond to what happened at ELTA, where the Hatzidakis method was applied: depreciation to prepare for privatization”. In particular, he raised the following questions: “Does New Democracy consider the insurance policy of 461,000 euros to cover the civil liability of the executives good administration?” Is furniture worth 250,000 euros good management? Did an administrative audit take place? Is it true that there is an administrative control that shows that after ELTA’s cooperation with a certain company ended, the administration of the Post Office continued to pay it and even made an out-of-court settlement, while there was no deliverable or new contract?”
Regarding the bloody vendetta in Vorizia, K. Tsoukalas emphasized that “a week has passed and the prime minister has not been appointed”. “What is he doing? On the one hand, Mr. Chrysochoidis goes and announces self-evident measures, which have been delayed with dramatic consequences, -he also makes a fuss about the FBI in Crete, the government puts communication doses in everything-, and on the other hand, he makes Mr. Georgiadis say the opposite in order to caress other audiences. They play the game of good and bad wolf all the time,” he commented. He added that for Tempi, “the government said that the marches should take place, Mr. Georgiadis stated that those who go want the country to be destabilized.”
The representative of PASOK noted that a combination of measures with a deep social, educational and professional character is required. “It’s not just a police issue. Obviously, measures to tighten penalties are needed, but the activation of all structures – educators, district, police – is also required. There should be professional second chance programs, that is, to give the environment – especially in some mountainous areas – for citizens to break out of the “standard”, he said.
Regarding the energy agreement that was signed, he said that “any process that guarantees sovereign rights and gives the possibility of additional resources for the country is a positive development.” He commented that “the government is trying to partisanize successes, which are national and belong to all governments.” In the same context, he emphasized that the announcement of block2 comes on top of the 2011 law and if this legislative framework did not exist, it could not proceed. “Throughout this decade, steps have been taken. The government wants to partisan a national plan,” he said.
