Inconvenience for Athens to Thessaloniki train passengers: Stopped due to technical problem, departed after 119 minutes

It went down due to a technical problem shortly after 19.00 on Saturday 8th November, train her Hellenic Train with 230 passengers, running the route Athens – Thessaloniki.

According to an announcement by Hellenic Train, it is train IC 56, which stopped at Sfendalis station, with the train finally departing for Thessaloniki with a delay of 119 minutes.

As pointed out in the announcement, two spare engines went to the spot immediately, in order to replace those of the stopped train and after the completion of the process, the train continued its route to Thessaloniki.

“Throughout the wait, the company’s staff was close to the passengers, providing continuous information on the progress of the route, while water and snacks were offered,” the announcement states.

The Hellenic Train call center (14511) remained available on Saturday night for two additional hours in order to serve train passengers.

In addition, executives from the company’s Customer Service Department were present at the Thessaloniki Railway Station, to welcome the passengers upon their arrival and to inform them in detail about the intended compensation procedures.
