Mitsotakis: In Egypt for the enthronement of the new Archbishop of Sinai – He will attend the opening of the Great Egyptian Museum

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis departs for an official visit to Egypt, where he will attend two high-profile events that highlight the close ties between Greece and Egypt — their religious and cultural dimension.

His journey will end with a stop in Cyprus, for the honorary memorial event of Glaukos Clerides. On Friday, October 31, Mr. Mitsotakis will attend the enthronement of the new Archbishop of Sinai, Faran and Raithos, as well as the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine on Mount Sinai, His Holiness Simeon.

The ceremony, with its deep historical and spiritual significance, is a symbol of Greece’s timeless relationship with the Sinai Patriarchate and the Orthodox Church of the region.

The following day, Saturday 1 November, the Greek Prime Minister will attend at the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo — a landmark project for world culture, housing some of humanity’s most important archaeological treasures and marking a new era for Egypt’s cultural prominence.

The visit will end on Sunday, November 2, with his transfer to Cyprus, where he will attend the memorial service of the former President of the Republic of Cyprus, Glaukos Cleridis, at the Apostle Barnabas Cathedral in Nicosia.

The Prime Minister’s three-day program combines institutional, cultural and symbolic presentations, underlining the consistency of Greek foreign policy in relations with the Arab world and the wider Hellenism of the Eastern Mediterranean.
