Mytileneos for the Pentagon: Here lies the historical soul of the armed forces

“Here lies their historical soul armed forces“, emphasized today (29.10.2025) its president and CEO Metlen Energy & MetalsEvangelos Mytilineos, during the unveiling ceremony of the new bioclimatic aspect of the Ministry of National Defense, in which METLEN was a sponsor as well as a manufacturer through METKA.

Specifically, the head of Metlen Energy & Metals stated that “here is not only the staff mind but also the historical soul of the Armed Forces and from here it radiates throughout the territory, across the border line, on land, sea and air”.

At the same time, he added: “I am proud because this staff center was completely dressed by Greek hands, led by Kostas Varotsos, Greek aluminum produced from Greek Bauxite, processed by Greek Aluminum factories which are the best in Europe and built by the best Greek hands”.

The strengthening of the Armed Forces is a prerequisite for national power, deterrence and the assurance of peace, according to Mr. Mytilineos.

“By strengthening the Armed Forces, the infrastructure, the weapon systems and above all the manpower, we strengthen our national power and sovereignty, acquire deterrent power, protect our national space, ensure Peace and stability in our region. This is the first condition, along with the functioning of democracy and social cohesion and inclusion, for the progress of the country and the well-being of Greek men and women in a fluid, uncertain and dangerous world that has lost many of what we took for granted,” pointed out the CEO of the company.

The speech of Evangelos Mytileneos

“Your Excellency Mr. Prime Minister,

Mr President of the Hellenic Parliament,

Theophilus Bishop, representative of His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece,

Mr. Deputy Prime Minister,

Mr. Minister of National Defense,

Ladies and gentlemen members of the Government,

Ladies and gentlemen Vice-Presidents of the Parliament,

Ladies and gentlemen members of the Hellenic Parliament and the European Parliament,

Chiefs of the General Staff of the National Defense, the General Staffs of the Armed Forces and the other Security Forces,

Dear District Governors,

Dear Mayors,

Most Reverend Metropolitans,

Mr. General Secretaries,

Mr. Varotso,

Dear guests,

As Kostas Varotsos said in a recent interview, whom I hasten to immediately congratulate and thank from the bottom of my heart for his artistic signature and the endless hours of work for the completion of the project, as my friend Kostas said, “When changing the facade of the building of the Ministry of National Defense I did not write the word ‘War’ but the word ‘Peace'”

I subscribe. But let me add that, as History teaches us, “if you want Peace, prepare for War”, a phrase known in Latin, “Si vis pacem, para bellum”.

The new bioclimatic facade of the building in which the staff center operates, i.e. the mind of the Armed Forces, faces the “Casket of National Memory” and bows to the 121,692 (one hundred and twenty one thousand six hundred and ninety two) names of those who fell in the Nation’s battles.

Here therefore lies not only the staff mind but also the historical soul of the Armed Forces and from here it radiates throughout the territory, along the entire border line, on land, sea and air.

And I am proud because this staff center was dressed entirely by Greek hands, led by Kostas Varotsos, Greek aluminum produced from Greek Bauxite, processed by Greek Aluminum factories which are the best in Europe and built by the best Greek hands.

Ladies and gentlemen, by strengthening the Armed Forces, the infrastructure, the weapons systems and above all the manpower, we strengthen our national power and sovereignty, acquire deterrent power, protect our national space, ensure Peace and stability in our region. This is the first condition, along with the functioning of democracy and social cohesion and inclusion for the progress of the country and the well-being of Greek men and women in a fluid, uncertain and dangerous world that has lost much of what we took for granted.

Yes, Greece is a member state of the European Union and NATO. Yes, Greece belongs to the West. Yes, we value our alliances and strategic corporate relationships. But national defense and security rely primarily on our own forces. And when I say forces I mean of course the Armed Forces but also all the creative forces of the country, the strong and vibrant civil society, the strong, productive and internationally competitive economy and of course the strong institutions of the state.

METLEN did not make a sponsorship. She responded to a self-evident patriotic duty and is deeply grateful for the greatest honor to be given the opportunity to honor the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff of the Army, Navy and Air Force. And indeed in a tangible, practical but also deeply symbolic way. With an intervention of high aesthetic value and a major functional upgrade to this historical and emblematic building.

The new bioclimatic facade as part of the overall intervention in this area, signals what is being done with a dense sequence of initiatives, the entry of the Greek Armed Forces into the era of new technology that radically changes the technology of War and therefore the technology of prevention to maintain Peace through the effective protection of our national sovereignty and sovereign rights.

I wish, ladies and gentlemen, that those who work here feel proud every day of the beauty in their space.

Those who visit the Ministry should feel the power of this space and what it expresses. And those passing by from the outside should see an image that reflects the prestige of our country and its Armed Forces”.
