Her “absolute and non-negotiable priority” of the government in the defense of the homeland was underlined by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking to unveiling ceremony of the new face of the Ministry of National Defense.
Mr. Mitsotakis characterized the project as a symbol of the whole modernization of the Armed Forces, while he referred admiringly to his “impressive memorial sculpture” Kostas Varotsou for them 121,000 dead who fell for freedom. “The defense of the homeland is not only about the power of our weapons, but also about its power heritage and our identity,” he emphasized.
He announced that the “more ambitious modernization program” in the history of the Armed Forces. As he revealed, for the next one 12 yearsthe bound ones resources they will overcome the 28 billion euros.
Specifically, the Prime Minister stated that the country has already acquired:
- Upgraded fighters Rafale
- Upgraded F-16 Viper
- Soon the aircraft F-35which will give the Air Force “strategic deterrence superiority”.
At the same time, the Navy is being modernized with frigates the grasswhile the integration of many is promoted unmanned vehicles.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis closed by saying that, just as the external appearance changes, so must the interventions be completed in interior of the building so that it is in “straight alignment” with the symbolism of modernization.
