Incidental pursuit in Menidi: A motorcycle driver attacked a police officer

Episodic pursuit in Menidi occurred on Monday afternoon, which resulted in arrests and the injury of a police officer. More specifically, around 7:25 p.m., police officers from the DIAS team patrolling at the junction of Kymi Avenue and Apoklisou Street spotted a motorcycle with two occupants and asked the driver to stop for a check. But he ignored the signal and developed speed, resulting in a pursuit.

According to the Police information, the bike initially moved towards New Athens National RoadGhouls heading towards the center of Athens and then entered the Attiki Odos from the Metamorfosi junction, heading towards Elefsina. Shortly after the toll, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, which veered off course and overturned.

The two young men were immobilized and arrested by the police officers of the DIAS group. During the arrest process, the driver projected resistance and wounded one of the special guards in the hand. The injured was taken to the 401 General Military Hospital, while the arrested refused to be taken to a hospital, even though an EMS ambulance was at the scene.

A case file was filed against them for violence against employees, causing bodily harm and dangerous driving.
