The prime minister was present in Thessaloniki Kyriakos Mitsotakisfor her anniversary military parade October 28th.
The prime minister after the parade, made statements with strong symbolism.
Initially he said that the day it “reflects the image of a country that honors the sacrifices of its past”, underlining that the message of unity remains timeless and must be transmitted to younger generations.
Mr. Mitsotakis characterized the parade “the image of a country that respects and honors the glorious honors of the past but looks to the future with optimism and confidence.”
As he pointed out: “85 years ago the Greeks put aside their differences and united to fight for freedom and won a proud victory. We are called to pass on this message of unity to our own generation.”
Referring to the current situation, he noted:We live in troubled times but the military parade makes us feel at peace that the Armed Forces are here to defend the freedom our forefathers fought for.”
At the same time, highlighted the modernization of the Armed Forces: “the Armed Forces are in the phase of the most important transformation in their history to meet modern needs”.
In closing, dedicated this year’s parade “to those who do not sleep at night 365 days a year to enjoy our freedom. Happy birthday to the homeland and to Greeks everywhere.”
