One day before the start of its new “devil’s week” and while six matches have been played, the Euroleague presented on its official site the renewed power rankings of the event, after what it had done before the event’s jamball.
Focusing on the Greek teams, Olympiacos – from second – is now at the top of the Euroleague power rankings. On the contrary, Panathinaikos – which was a pioneer – has now fallen to third place.
“Olympiacos have remained within touching distance of the top of the standings, despite only six players having featured in all six matches so far. When fully healthy, the red and whites are a force to be reckoned with,” said the report on Giorgos Bartzokas’ side.
“The alarm has sounded with the home loss to Barca, the 17-point loss to Virtus and some inconsistencies in the game. But the bottom line is that Panathinaikos is very strong and it’s hard to believe that the greens won’t catch fire soon,” writes Ergin Ataman.
However, Hapoel Tel Aviv had the biggest rise, which in the initial power rankings was 11th, while now it is placed by the Euroleague in second place, between the two Greek clubs!
It is worth noting that the power rankings are not a prediction of how the final standings will be, but of where the 20 teams are at the moment, on the eve of matchday 7.
