Her 8th matchday Super League ended without major changes in the first positions of the standings, with Olympic to beat AEK again and force it to its second straight defeat in the championship. The pioneer PAOK and the renewed Panathinaikos.
The end of the 8th matchday finds PAOK and Olympiacos slipping away from the title battle, with the North Doubleheader on top with 20 points and the Greek champions following with 19.
Olympiacos, AEK’s nightmare
Olympiacos has taken the air of AEK in recent years, with the Mendiliber team adding one more victory at the expense of the Union.
In the last seven games at any venue, Olympiacos has 6 wins (!), causing… introversion in the Union.
On Sunday evening (26/10/2025) at “G. Karaiskakis”, Olympiacos beat AEK 2-0 with two goals from his center forwards (El Kaabi and Taremi). It forced her to her second straight league loss and dropped her to third place.
Piraeus dominated most of the match, with AEK being harmless, having made just one final on goal in the entire game and she in the delays of the derby.
In the second half and after 1-0, Olympiacos put the ball at the feet of the Union, which did not know how to create problems in the red and white defense.
Somehow, the 2-0 came in a comfortable way for the champions of Greece, who remain in the hunt for PAOK.
PAOK without… brakes

PAOK celebrated its fourth consecutive victory in Greece and Europe. Razvan Lucescu’s team, after the problematic start to the season, has changed its face and sweeps everything in its path.
Within a few days, he managed to win two consecutive derbies against Olympiakos and AEK, but also beat the home of Lille in an incredible way (3-4) in the Europa League.
The winning frame was completed with one comfortable home victory (3-0) over the fighting Volos. Razvan Lucescu’s extended rotation didn’t affect the Northern Biceps, who struggled in the first half, but stormed into the second, hitting three goals with Giakoumakis and Ozdoev.
The Greek striker unlocked the defense of Volos and the Russian midfielder “locked” the victory with two personal goals.
After the end of the 8th matchday, PAOK is alone at the top of the standings, having one point more than Olympiacos.
Rafa Benitez era at Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos moves to the rhythms of Rafa Benitez. The Spanish coach made his debut on the green bench in the home game against Asteras Tripoli and naturally all eyes were on him.
The new coach of Panathinaikos is not a “magician” and did not have time to change the image of Panathinaikos at all, which although did not impress with his appearance, managed to get the win (2-0) and to remain in the hunt for the first places.
The Arkades, however, had many complaints about the penalty with which Panathinaikos took the lead, with the team’s coach, Coleman, speaking for a crazy decision.
