Donald Trump leaves open the possibility of a meeting with Kim Jong Un: “I get along very well with him”

The president of the United States, Donald Trumpsaid he would like to meet with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Unduring his upcoming Asia tour.

Speaking to reporters shortly before his departure, Donald Trump asserted: “I would really like to, he knows how we’re going. I get along very well with Kim Jong Un and I am 100% open to the possibility of a meeting.”

The two leaders last met in 2019 in an attempt to advance dialogue on North Korea’s denuclearization, a process that ultimately yielded no tangible results.

However, according to a US administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, no such meeting is on the official schedule of the Republican ex-president’s tour.

Trump’s tour is expected to include visits to Japan, South Korea and the Philippines, with interest turning to the former president’s next moves ahead of the US election and his stance on North Korea.
