“The President has certainly expressed his intention to meet with Kim in the near future. That is not in the schedule for this trip,” the official told reporters on condition of anonymity.

Trump is expected in South Korea on October 29 for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. US media reported that officials in his administration were privately discussing arranging a meeting between him and Kim Jong Un.
During Trump’s first term, there were a total of three meetings: One in June 2018 in Singapore, the second in February 2019 in Vietnam and the third in June of the same year on the border of South and North Korea.

Also, briefing reporters ahead of Trump’s Asia tour, the official said Trump wants to talk to the Chinese President, Xi Jinping mainly for the commercial relations of their countries. Washington is mainly concerned about “certain actions announced by China in the last two weeks, which really threaten global economic stability.”
Recently, Beijing announced that it will proceed with sweeping controls on rare earth exports.
