For the arrests by the Greek FBI regarding the criminal organization that illegally collected millions of euros from the OKAY but also on the implementation of the amendment for the Unknown Soldier, the Minister of Citizen Protection spoke on Thursday morning, Michalis Chrysochoidis.
“One guy was coordinating others and drawing resources from OPEKEPE by handing out millions of euros. This is a large criminal organization that operated with people you don’t count in various villages and siphoned resources from OPEKEPE,” said Mr. Chrysochoidis to SKAI, who announced that “in the next period of time there will be other such investigations by the department for organized crime.”
“Soon the prosecutor of organized crime will charge other criminal groups as well” added Mr Minister of Citizen Protection.
At the same time, he said that the investigation is continuing and “one is that in a short time I will announce a new batch of tax IDs that must return money back” while “the second is the investigation of the criminal groups that were operating”.
As for the arrangement for the Unknown Soldier Mr. Chrysochoidis said that “responsibility for security, order and the implementation of the law lies with ELAS”.
“I’ll talk to him Nikos Dendias to see what purpose it has for shaping the space” he added, commenting that “we are going through a period of political tensions and when these exist, “battles” are created around issues. Some are determined to destroy the country as part of their political pursuits,” added the Minister of Citizen Protection.
He wondered, in view of the parades of October 28 “what did those who interrupted the parade in 2013 achieve?” They are at home and in the unclaimed areas of history. We will not tear the country apart like this. Law is law and laws are made to be enforced. In the context of the democratic sensitivity to events such as Tempe, the law for the holding of parades will be applied”
