Tomorrow the prime minister will participate in a four -member with the presidents of France, Cyprus and Lebanon
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is going to Paris today, March 27, to take part in the leaders for peace and security in Ukraine, organized on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron.
The majority of EU leaders, the leadership of European institutions (President of the European Council and President of the European Commission) and the NATO Secretary -General will participate in the meeting, while countries outside the EU have been invited to participate in the government. It is taking place in the context of the effort to achieve a comprehensive peace deal in Ukraine, a few days after the meeting of EU leaders at the March 20th Council meeting, and only one day after the announcements that followed US consultations with both Ukraine and Ukraine.
On Friday, March 28th, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be back in the Mansion of Elysia to meet Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides and Lebanese President Joseph Aun. The four-day Greek-France-Cyprus-Livanos summit is the first corresponding to the four countries and even at the highest level. It takes place at a juncture in which the landscape in the area is reshaped and regional developments are running. The government stresses that it highlights that Greece is present in developments, but also a factor in stability and security in the wider region.
It is also recalled that Kyriakos Mitsotakis was last December the first foreign leaders to visit Lebanon after reaching the truce agreement. The prime minister’s visit was of high symbolism and importance, as he addressed a message of peace and stability, as well as the strong role and presence of Greece in the region. The prime minister had declared Greece’s readiness to assist in strengthening Lebanon’s state structures. Indeed, at the meeting of the Greek delegation under the prime minister, President Aun, as head of the Lebanese Armed Forces, had also participated.
On Sunday, March 30th, Kyriakos Mitsotakis goes to Israel, where he will meet with President Isaac Hertzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The visit is expected to confirm the strong strategic alliance of Greece-Israel, and the full range of bilateral relations with emphasis on defense cooperation, as well as regional developments focusing on the eastern Mediterranean and Syria, is expected to be discussed.
