DESFA: Nine -month gas exports were seeded in nine months 2025

Seven times were the export of gas of our country in the 9th of 2025 compared to last year according to DESFA data.

Export launching in conjunction with the significant rise of domestic demand has led to an increase in gas consumption by 16.66%.

In particular, according to official data:

The total demand for gas in Greece, including exports, amounted to 56.36 TWH (TWH), increased by 16.66% compared to 48.31 TWH of 2024.

This significant increase is mainly due to the rapid reinforcement of exports, which stood at 5.06 TWH, from just 0.66 TWH in 2024, increasing an increase of +667% (ie more than 7 times), as well as the strengthening of domestic consumption by 7.66%, reaching 51.3 TWH, up to 47.65 TWH, up to 47.65 TWH. last year.

In terms of consumer categories, power generation continues to be the main consumer, covering 71% of domestic demand, with 36.45 TWh. Consumption through distribution networks increased by 18.05% to 9.42 TWH, representing 18% of domestic demand, while industries and CNG stations recorded a decrease of 16.97%, covering 11% of natural gas consumption in the country.

Concerning imports, the role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was significantly enhanced, covering more than 40% of total gas imports compared to about 26% in the first 9 months of 2024, with the point of the Holy Trinity (Revithousa) being the main entrance gate and the FSR.

Although the Revithousa station remained out of service due to scheduled maintenance for the period 22/5-11/6, Revithousa covered 39% of the country’s total gas imports, welcoming 36 LNG tankers, more than double the 20 tankers. TWH, increased by 81.60% compared to 12.34 TWH in 2024. Through Amphitrite (by FSRU Alexandroupolis), a total of 1.03 TWH LNG had been entered until 22/1, when the station’s gasification services were temporarily out of service.

The main LNG supplier was the United States of America, with the quantities unloaded reaching 19.62 TWH (88% of the total), compared to 8.02 TWH last year. Nigeria followed by 1.37 TWH, Norway with 0.93 TWh and Algeria with 0.49 TWh.

In terms of land imports, through Sidirokastro, which covered 45% of the country’s total imports, 25.46 TWH were introduced, a quantity reduced by 3.3% compared to last year (26.32 TWH), while through the new noon (interconnection with TAP), Imports reached 8.2 TWHs, 2024, decreasing by 14.67%.

Finally, DESFA’s LNG Truck Loading service at the Revithousa terminal recorded dynamic growth, loading 494 LNG trucks in the nine -month period of 2025 against 174 trucks last year and 148.05 GWH transport at the same time versus 51.28 GWH in 2024. “The dynamic increase in cargo confirms that the service is recognized as a flexible and efficient solution to meet energy needs of remote distribution networks and industrial consumers in Greece and the wider region,” DESFA said.
