As the Vice -Mayor of Technical Works Chrysostomos Hadjikyriazis said, workshops from the North Aegean Region have already gone to the point to remove the rock from the roadway and to appreciate the situation. “The road is officially considered closed and the passage is solely under the responsibility of drivers,” Mr. Hadjikyriazis said characteristically.underlining the danger of the part of this road network.

To definitively restore the problem, a complete renovation project of the Melinda – Plomari road is required, budget of about eight million euros. It is a highly complex intervention, which requires serious and specialized geological studies as the subsoil of the area is characterized by rocks of rocks and intense geomorphology, This makes every technical solution difficult and demanding.

The road is particularly important because it is the only one that connects Plomari’s short route to Melita. Otherwise the vehicles should go through Paleochori a distance of almost 30 kilometers.
